POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Records Technician is responsible for the organization and management of patient medical records. This role involves interaction with healthcare providers, staff, and patients to ensure the efficient handling of medical documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the coordination of medical records for patient appointments and special requests.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while assisting staff and physicians.
  • Accurately organize and file medical records in a timely manner.
  • Process authorizations for the release of confidential patient information.
  • Prepare and retrieve medical records for reviews and assessments.
  • Support chart purging activities and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Manage and deliver facsimile transmissions as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
