Summary/Objective

The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating and underwriting middle-market asset-based lending opportunities. This position involves leading project teams, collaborating with Relationship Managers, and providing guidance to junior analysts. The Senior Credit Risk Analyst is expected to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to generate insights that facilitate credit decisions, enhance client experiences, and reduce credit risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development: Lead teams in assessing new lending opportunities, conduct thorough due diligence, prepare credit approval documentation for transactions that align with established credit criteria, present proposals to the credit committee for approval, negotiate legal agreements as necessary, and participate in the closing of deals.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the underwriting of credit renewals, extensions, and modifications. Manage assigned accounts by monitoring performance and compliance with covenants, preparing collateral trend analyses, and conducting periodic reviews. Process amendments and waiver requests promptly to meet client expectations and provide updates to management.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyze collateral information, financial statements, and capital structures. Conduct industry and competitor analysis to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate transaction structures. Provide informed recommendations based on comprehensive due diligence.
  • Mentorship: Guide and train junior analysts to foster their professional development.
  • Policy Adherence: Maintain an understanding of company policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various departments including Portfolio Reporting, Compliance, Legal, and Risk Management to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the auto finance and dealership sectors.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients, brokers, and intermediaries as needed to facilitate the due diligence process and support relationship management efforts.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in credit analysis, particularly within the commercial lending sector; proven track record in leading underwriting processes for senior debt transactions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Proficient in managing large datasets and transforming them into actionable business insights.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and capital structures, coupled with excellent analytical skills and the ability to challenge assumptions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; a collaborative team player.
  • Self-driven with a high level of energy; adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
