We are looking for a skilled Senior Financial Analyst - Healthcare Reimbursement to join our reputable finance team at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. This position presents a rewarding and engaging opportunity with a focus on job security and professional advancement.

Position Overview: The Senior Financial Analyst - Healthcare Reimbursement works in close collaboration with colleagues to accurately prepare Medicare and South Carolina Medicaid Cost Reports for all entities within Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. This encompasses Hospitals, Home Office, Nursing Homes, Rural Health Clinics, Home Health, Hospice, and Graduate Medical Education programs. The role requires gathering and analyzing data to create detailed workpapers while remaining informed about current regulations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and South Carolina Medicaid. Furthermore, the Senior Financial Analyst - Healthcare Reimbursement assists with various audits (including bad debts, DSH, S-10, cost reports, etc.) and engages in special reimbursement-related projects, working alongside finance and operations teams to evaluate regulatory, operational, and financial impacts.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field (such as a Master's in Accountancy or MBA).
  • Preferred Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare reimbursement roles, including medical auditing, provider reimbursement, consulting, or similar positions.
  • Familiarity with Lawson, Strata, Crowe, and/or Power BI is a plus.
  • Preferred Certifications: CPA or equivalent certification.

Core Responsibilities: This role includes a variety of tasks to support the reimbursement function, such as:

  • Preparation of Medicare and other Third-Party cost reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with reporting obligations from Medicare, Medicaid, or other governmental entities.
  • Compilation of essential workpapers for cost reports and reimbursement documentation.
  • Preparation of reports related to bad debt, DSH, and S-10.
  • Support during reimbursement audits.
  • Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Conducting financial impact assessments of reimbursement modifications.
  • Collaborating with departments to address reimbursement challenges.
  • Providing assistance to team members and department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned, ensuring adherence to Hospital policies and regulations.

Candidate Profile: Ideal candidates will exhibit:

  • Proficiency in interpreting business publications, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong mathematical capabilities, including whole numbers, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Sound analytical skills to identify problems, gather data, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
