Overview

Summary/Objective

The Fraud Investigation Analyst within the Fraud Investigation Unit plays a crucial role in managing suspected fraud cases. This position involves conducting thorough root cause analysis and employing various fact-finding techniques to scrutinize potentially fraudulent activities by assessing accounts and dealership operations. The Analyst will collaborate with leadership across Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations departments to formulate effective action plans based on investigative findings.

Essential Functions

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating closely with Fraud Analysts and team members to evaluate and prioritize potential fraud cases for in-depth investigation.
  • Utilizing investigative methodologies to conduct comprehensive analyses of unusual account behaviors, meticulously documenting processes and findings, and presenting conclusions for necessary actions to mitigate losses (such as lien loss and identity fraud).
  • Gaining expertise in identifying fraudulent documentation to detect suspicious activities and staying updated on emerging fraud techniques and mitigation strategies.
  • Assisting in the development of cases to substantiate claims of fraudulent activities by gathering supporting documents and evidence to create detailed Case Summary Reports.
  • Employing defined metrics to maintain and update tracking and reporting systems.
  • Presenting Case Summaries and findings to internal stakeholder groups.
  • Conducting additional specialized investigations as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Basic skills in accounting/data analysis and skip tracing are advantageous.
  • Experience with TLO, IDICore, CarFax, or similar skip tracing programs is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated sound business judgment in applying appropriate policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently while positively contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills are crucial for effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining productivity in a dynamic work setting. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to efficiently allocate time, manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, and adapt to changing priorities while ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role operates within a professional office environment, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with standard working hours.

Travel

No travel is anticipated for this role.
