Chemical Process Engineer

Ashland is excited to present an opportunity for a Process Engineer at our Texas City, Texas facility. This role is crucial within our organization and the Specialty Chemicals Production sector, reporting directly to the Continuous Process Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Continuous Production Operations Manager and other production team members to set annual goals and objectives for production areas.
  • Monitor daily operations of production areas and conduct troubleshooting to ensure optimal capacity.
  • Evaluate catalyst performance and recommend adjustments to operating conditions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving projects and long-term solutions for operational challenges.
  • Optimize processes to enhance quality while minimizing operational costs.
  • Conduct yield improvement and performance monitoring to maximize production output.
  • Adhere to capital and fixed budget guidelines on all projects, employing cost control measures as necessary.
  • Work alongside Process Operators, Engineers, Supervisors, and Specialists to develop and enhance process control systems.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement teams, serving as the Area Representative for relevant projects and tests.
  • Utilize statistical methods for process optimization to enhance quality and yield while identifying potential issues.
  • Contribute to organizational goals by taking initiative, executing objectives, and prioritizing safety and performance.
  • Foster collaborative relationships and optimize diverse talents through effective communication.
  • Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations while enhancing existing company programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in chemical plant manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with process engineering, troubleshooting techniques, engineering standards, Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change, and project cost control.
  • Ability to respond effectively during site emergencies as directed.
  • Capable of evacuating manufacturing areas promptly in case of emergencies.
  • Proficient in using personal protective equipment as required in manufacturing areas.
  • Physical capability to perform activities such as walking, climbing, bending, and lifting.
  • Work environment includes both office and plant settings, with frequent visits to operational areas.
  • Exhibit responsible and ethical behavior consistently.
  • Valid driver's license for operating plant vehicles.
  • Authorization to work in the US.

Preferred Skills:

  • Five years of experience in chemical plant manufacturing.
  • Proficient in process engineering and problem-solving techniques.
  • Able to interface effectively with various stakeholders in process engineering.
  • Ability to identify critical issues and develop action plans collaboratively.
  • Exceptional planning and problem-solving skills for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel within Texas and across the United States for training as needed.
