Ashland is excited to present an opportunity for a Process Engineer at our Texas City facility. This pivotal role is integral to our Specialty Chemicals Production team and reports directly to the Continuous Process Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Continuous Production Operations Manager and production staff to set annual goals and objectives for production areas.
  • Monitor daily operations and conduct troubleshooting to ensure optimal capacity.
  • Evaluate catalyst performance and recommend adjustments to operating conditions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving projects and long-term solutions to operational challenges.
  • Optimize processes to enhance quality while minimizing costs.
  • Conduct daily yield improvement and performance monitoring to maximize production output.
  • Adhere to capital and fixed budget guidelines on all projects, employing cost control measures as necessary.
  • Work closely with Process Operators, Engineers, Supervisors, and Specialists to develop and enhance process control systems.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement teams, serving as the Area Representative for relevant projects.
  • Utilize statistical methods for process optimization to maintain and enhance quality and yield.
  • Contribute to organizational goals by taking initiative and focusing on safety and performance.
  • Enhance organizational capacity through collaboration, optimizing diverse talents, and effective communication.
  • Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations while improving existing programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure efficient departmental functioning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in chemical plant manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with process engineering, troubleshooting techniques, engineering standards, and Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Ability to respond effectively during site emergencies as directed.
  • Capability to evacuate manufacturing areas promptly in emergencies.
  • Proficient in using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Physical ability to perform activities such as walking, climbing, bending, and lifting.
  • Work performed in an office/plant environment with frequent visits to operational areas.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior and decision-making skills.
  • Valid driver's license for operating plant vehicles.
  • Authorization to work in the US.

Preferred Skills:

  • Five years of experience in chemical plant manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various levels of staff.
  • Capability to identify quality improvement opportunities and develop actionable plans.
  • Willingness to travel for training and project needs.
