We are seeking a highly skilled Reading Specialist to join our team at Hanover County Public Schools. As a Reading Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing leadership and support to administrators, teachers, and parents in the implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and parents in the understanding and implementation of high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based literacy instruction.
  • Analyze various assessments to determine intentional instructional matches for students in need of intervention.
  • Plan, implement, and progress monitor student literacy interventions and maintain student learning plans for striving readers.
  • Work collaboratively with the division-level Language Arts Curriculum Specialist, Coordinator, literacy coaches, and other reading specialists to develop and implement literacy programs.
  • Provide diagnostic, placement, and consultation services to all classroom teachers regarding intervention and general education students.
  • Attend monthly division-level reading meetings and share information with school administration and faculty.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Reading Education or a related field.
  • Postgraduate Professional License with endorsement as a reading specialist.
  • At least three years of recent, successful experience as a classroom teacher, as a reading specialist, or in an environment that emphasizes reading.
