Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist - Patient Care Specialist provides high-quality patient care services, including evaluation, planning, treatment, and documentation. This role involves supervising Assistants, Attendants, and students during the provision of treatment. The ideal candidate will possess strong observation and judgment skills, as well as the ability to establish therapeutic rapport with patients.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Occupational Therapist licensure in the state of Wisconsin is required. New hires may have a temporary Occupational Therapist license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Health upon hire, with permanent licensure within 120 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Occupational Therapist - Patient Care Specialist must possess the ability to establish therapeutic rapport with patients, as well as good observation and judgment skills. They must also be aware of safety precautions and procedures, and possess effective communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
Reading
- Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Writing
- Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
Speaking
- Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
- Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Age-Specific Competencies
- Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
