Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all legal functions associated with Fnality Services.
  • Provide counsel and direction to Directors, Board Members, and Senior Management.
  • Formulate long-term strategies with senior leadership to align with the company's goals while managing legal and regulatory risks, focusing on areas such as financial regulation, strategic transactions, product commercialization, intellectual property, and data privacy.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of cross-border payment versus payment transactions.
  • Manage governance activities related to the Board and its committees.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, contracts, and policy guidelines, leveraging your expertise and our organization's diverse skill set.
  • Ensure the protection of the company's intellectual property and maintain licensing agreements for product commercialization.
  • Engage with central banks, regulators, business partners, and other external stakeholders in meetings.
  • Negotiate and review contracts with vendors and potential business partners.
  • Collaborate with the in-house legal team to deliver high-quality legal services, including coordination with external legal experts across major financial hubs.
  • Contribute to the development of legal risk policies and promote awareness within the organization.
  • Assist in navigating new markets with varying legal frameworks.
  • Prepare legal documentation and arguments to support the company's decisions.
  • Advise on dispute resolution involving the company.
  • Oversee the provision of specialized legal advice from external consultants.
  • Keep the organization informed about relevant legal and regulatory developments.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, focusing on financial regulatory matters or the commercialization of innovative payment solutions, ideally with expertise in blockchain technology.
  • A strong interest in the intersection of law, regulation, and emerging technologies within global financial markets.
  • Experience in a dynamic, innovative environment where legal professionals tackle complex business challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of various legal areas, including corporate law, intellectual property, technology, data privacy, and employment law.
  • Experience managing external legal firms to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization.

We operate in a remote-first environment, but this role may require occasional attendance at our office for essential meetings.

Fnality Global Payments:

We are creating a new global network of wholesale payment systems that will facilitate tokenized, peer-to-peer markets.

Fnality Global Payments will consist of a series of national systems, each regulated within its jurisdiction, known as Fnality Payment Systems.

In each system, a Fnality settlement asset will serve as the payment asset for various transaction types.

FnGP leverages Distributed Ledger Technology, enabling:

  • True peer-to-peer market operations.
  • Immediate settlement capabilities.
  • Interoperability across platforms and jurisdictions.
