Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all legal functions associated with Fnality Services.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to Directors, Board Members, and Senior Management.
  • Formulate long-term strategies with senior management to align with the company's objectives while navigating legal and regulatory risks, focusing on areas such as financial regulation, strategic transactions, and intellectual property.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of cross-border payment versus payment (PvP) initiatives.
  • Manage governance activities related to the Board and its committees.
  • Draft contracts, memoranda, and policy documents, leveraging your expertise and our diverse organizational resources.
  • Ensure the protection of the company's intellectual property and manage licensing arrangements for product commercialization.
  • Prepare for and participate in discussions with regulators, central banks, and external stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and business partners.
  • Collaborate with our in-house legal team and external counsels to deliver high-quality legal services.
  • Contribute to the development of legal risk policies and promote awareness within the organization.
  • Assist in navigating new markets with varying legal frameworks.
  • Prepare legal documents and identify precedents to support company decisions.
  • Advise on dispute resolution involving the company.
  • Manage external legal advisors to ensure optimal outcomes for the business.
  • Keep abreast of new laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, focusing on financial regulatory matters or commercialization of payment initiatives, ideally with blockchain technology.
  • A strong interest in the intersection of law, regulation, and emerging technologies in global finance.
  • Experience in innovative and rapidly evolving environments where legal professionals address complex business challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of various legal areas such as corporate law, intellectual property, and data privacy is advantageous.
  • Experience managing external law firms to support in-house legal objectives.

We operate in a remote-first environment, but due to the nature of this role, attendance at our London office for specific meetings is required.

Fnality Global Payments:

We are creating a new global network of wholesale payment systems designed for tokenized, peer-to-peer markets.

Fnality Global Payments (FnGP) will consist of several national systems, each regulated within its jurisdiction, known as Fnality Payment Systems (FnPS).

In each system, a Fnality settlement asset will serve as the payment asset for various transaction needs.

FnGP leverages Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to enable:

  • True peer-to-peer market operations.
  • Immediate settlement capabilities.
  • Interoperability across platforms and jurisdictions.
