Your Impact:

As a Health Technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring a secure environment for participants experiencing withdrawal and crises. The Sobering Center serves as a vital resource for individuals facing public intoxication or mental health emergencies, offering an alternative to incarceration and unnecessary hospitalization. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting hourly monitoring of participants' vital signs.
  • Administering medications as required.
  • Collaborating with participants' medical and mental health providers.
  • Transporting participants to and from the center.
  • Making necessary referrals to appropriate services.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification in California.
  • A.A. Degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
  • Availability to cover shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in supporting clients with substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations and those with co-occurring disorders.
  • Skills in managing and de-escalating emergency situations.
  • Strong time management capabilities.
  • Effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including case managers and medical personnel.
  • Proficient in computer usage, including data entry and report writing.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid California Driver's License and auto insurance with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate a 10-passenger van.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Fingerprinting and drug testing are mandatory upon hiring.
  • Must be current with flu vaccinations and COVID-19 vaccinations.

Available Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: 645 AM - 315 PM, Tuesday - Saturday
  • 2nd Shift: 245 PM - 1115 PM, Tuesday - Saturday
  • 3rd Shift: 1045 PM - 715 AM, TBD
