Your Impact:

As a Health Technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring a secure environment for participants undergoing withdrawal and crisis. Located at the Mission Street Recovery Station, you will support individuals who have been brought to the sobering center due to public intoxication or mental health crises, offering an alternative to incarceration and unnecessary hospitalization. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring vital signs and overall health of participants.
  • Facilitating medication availability and adherence.
  • Collaborating with medical and mental health providers.
  • Transporting participants as needed.
  • Making appropriate referrals for additional support.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in California.
  • A.A. Degree or relevant experience.
  • Flexibility to cover shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with clients facing addiction and mental health challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Proficiency in managing emergency situations and de-escalation techniques.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Collaborative mindset for working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Competence in computer skills, including data entry and report writing.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid California Driver's License and auto insurance with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to operate a 10-passenger van.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Completion of fingerprinting and drug testing upon hire.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations, including flu and COVID-19.

Shifts Available:

Health Technician - EMT positions are available across various shifts, including:

  • 1st Shift: Early morning to afternoon
  • 2nd Shift: Afternoon to evening
  • 3rd Shift: Overnight
