ROLE SUMMARY

The Bakery Tavern Customer Service Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional and welcoming service while supporting the daily functions of the bakery, coffee/juice bar, and tavern.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service, promptly addressing inquiries and fulfilling customer needs.
  • Efficiently operate the bakery cash register.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the bakery and tavern offerings.
  • Process orders with precision, considering customer preferences.
  • Collaborate with baking and decorating teams regarding special requests and production needs.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages.
  • Ensure the self-serve beverage station is clean and well-stocked.
  • Maintain the presentation of display cases, ensuring cleanliness and accurate labeling.
  • Package, price, and showcase bakery items effectively.
  • Organize and replenish supplies at workstations.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in work areas.
  • Utilize equipment such as registers and espresso machines safely.
  • Respond to phone calls and pages in a courteous manner.
  • Adhere to established protocols for health, safety, and sanitation.
  • Report any safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Perform assigned opening, mid, and closing tasks.
  • Attend scheduled shifts and participate in training sessions.
  • Complete additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Preferred experience of 1+ years in food and beverage service.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Food Handlers Certificate from a recognized organization.
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certificate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Exposure to various food allergens including flour, dairy, and nuts.
  • Regular lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Engagement in physical activities such as bending, twisting, and reaching.
  • Use of hands for tasks requiring fine manipulation and pushing/pulling.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures from kitchen equipment.
  • Consistent work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • May involve using ladders or step stools.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Noise from kitchen machinery may be present.
  • Must wear non-slip, water-resistant footwear.
