Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Supervisor (CES) is responsible for overseeing two community-based residential programs and directly managing all Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff assigned to these facilities.

The CES ensures that all operations comply with regulatory standards set forth by governing bodies such as DHS, DCFS, IDPH, and BQM.

This role includes mentoring, training, and guiding DSPs to provide outstanding customer service and individualized support.


Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Embody the mission and values of the organization in all interactions with individuals supported, their families, and team members.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity in all communications.
  • Provide coaching and education to DSPs on required standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Conduct onboarding and training sessions for new DSP staff.
  • Familiarity with the AFSCME contract is advantageous.

Team Management:
  • Conduct and document training for DSPs.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings and ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Oversee daily operations and systems within the residential programs.
  • Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Monitor compliance with the AFSCME agreement and agency policies.

Advocacy Initiatives:
  • Encourage meaningful experiences and active participation of individuals supported.
  • Support person-centered practices and address critical service needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to effectively address concerns.

Community Relations:
  • Promote community involvement to foster partnerships and relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and maintain a positive community presence.

Position Requirements:

The CES must embody the organization's mission, possess strong leadership abilities, and adapt to advancements in the field. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. The CES should be comfortable working independently and be flexible in a dynamic environment. Meeting deadlines and adhering to program guidelines is crucial.


Education and Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid Illinois Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Certification/Licensure: Successful completion of required checks and training is necessary.

Experience:
  • Prior experience in Direct Support roles is required.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience is required or preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to lift and support individuals during transfers, drive, and perform physical tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to comprehend written information.
  • Availability for on-call duties is essential.
  • Some locations may require PACE certification.

Compensation:

$21.88 per hour
