Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Safety Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations. This position acts as the main point of contact for employees, visitors, and contractors regarding all EHS-related matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Execute Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and initiatives.

  • Alert supervisors to unsafe conditions or actions.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents.
  • Comply with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Implement preventive measures effectively.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to established safety protocols.
  • Compile and present reports on incidents and violations, identifying root causes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine work environments and equipment to verify compliance with company, state, and federal safety standards.
  • Support safety and health training initiatives.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections.
  • Ensure that all employees return home safely at the end of their shifts.
  • Guide and educate employees on various safety topics.
  • Manage the supply and availability of safety equipment.
  • Supervise workplace repairs, installations, and any activities that may jeopardize employee safety.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of potentially hazardous materials and practices.
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with safety management information systems.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Safety Coordinator role or similar position with demonstrated safety responsibilities.
