Position Overview:

  • Expert in developing and upholding a range of safety and environmental protocols, policies, and procedures to guarantee that all personnel adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Creating, executing, and overseeing initiatives aimed at minimizing workplace injuries and illnesses, including conducting area assessments, injury investigations, and establishing clear, measurable objectives.
  • Improving working conditions by leveraging extensive knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety regulations, while developing loss control strategies and methods to assess safety advancements.
  • Evaluating, sharing, and implementing industry best practices in HSE across multiple sites.
  • Establishing, executing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in alignment with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, providing performance reports to senior management and suggesting enhancements.
  • Acting as the liaison between local, state, and federal regulatory bodies, corporate entities, and insurance representatives to ensure plant compliance.
  • Overseeing the plant's environmental and OSHA regulatory documentation and reporting obligations.
  • Formulating and managing budgets for HSE initiatives, including consulting, testing, waste management, safety equipment, and recognition programs.
  • Leading investigations into environmental and safety non-compliance, addressing root cause incidents, and responding promptly to operational challenges.
  • Facilitating team-driven problem-solving initiatives.
  • Conducting site inspections and assessing the plant's adherence to environmental regulations while identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implementing eco-friendly solutions and driving modifications in manufacturing processes/systems to reduce environmental waste.
  • Managing workers' compensation claims effectively.
  • Conducting training sessions for safety, HSE, and awareness programs.
Qualifications and Expertise:

Health and Safety Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with behavior-based safety principles, preferably DuPont STOP.
  • Understanding of chemical hazard communication.
  • Expertise in contractor safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of confined space entry regulations.
  • Proficiency in electrical safety standards.
  • Experience in emergency response planning.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics.
  • Understanding of fall protection measures.
  • Expertise in hazardous energy control - Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Familiarity with hearing conservation practices.
  • Experience in incident investigation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of indoor air quality and industrial hygiene.
  • Proficiency in injury reporting and analysis.
  • Experience in job hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Understanding of machine guarding standards.
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Familiarity with powered industrial vehicle safety.
  • Experience in safety programs and OSHA compliance.
Environmental Knowledge:
  • Expertise in sustainable processes and recycling initiatives.
  • Knowledge of solid and hazardous waste management practices.
  • Experience in wastewater and stormwater management, including permitting and compliance.
  • Understanding of air emission management, permitting, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of pollution prevention and resource conservation strategies.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of HSE experience in the manufacturing sector is essential.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing Plant/Production/HSE programs and personnel.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing HSE compliance and improvement strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US federal and state regulations related to occupational safety and health as well as environmental standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
