Are you an experienced cyber systems engineer with a robust understanding of mission-critical technologies? Do you possess expertise in ethical hacking and a passion for enhancing National Security? The Leidos Innovations Center, specifically within the Electronic Warfare Division, is seeking a professional to contribute to innovative R&D initiatives.

In the role of Senior Cyber Systems Engineer, you will adopt an adversarial perspective, engage in proactive threat hunting, and deliver tactical assessments of ongoing cyber incidents affecting vital systems.

Your leadership will guide a team of engineers, focusing on data analysis, cyber threat research, and the development of tools to bolster these efforts. Your proficiency in adversary tactics and intelligence gathering will be essential in countering evolving threats.

Collaboration with Capture Managers on proposals, participation in marketing efforts, attendance at industry conferences, and networking with peers will also be part of your responsibilities, aimed at enhancing our service offerings.

This position offers the flexibility of telework while allowing for occasional on-site collaboration as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead research and development projects as Principal Investigator or Chief Engineer.
  • Contribute to proposals related to cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Analyze network and host activities concerning intrusions by sophisticated adversaries.
  • Conduct network traffic evaluations utilizing various analytical tools.
  • Develop tailored signatures to counteract emerging threats.
  • Employ forensic tools for in-depth attack analysis.
  • Investigate new cyber threats and provide actionable insights.
  • Contribute to the creation of threat intelligence reports and briefings.
  • Engage in proactive threat hunting operations.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to achieve shared goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with over 15 years of experience in cybersecurity or network defense.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing diverse engineering teams.
  • Expertise in Linux systems and networking protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced cyber threats and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience in intrusion detection and digital forensic analysis.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, Python, and C++ programming.
  • Eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of threat frameworks such as ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Experience with mobile operating systems and networks.
  • Previous roles in threat research or intelligence analysis.
  • Skills in malware analysis and reverse engineering techniques.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic principles and practices.
  • Ability to create and implement Snort and YARA signatures.
  • Familiarity with Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), Computer Network Attack (CNA), and Computer Network Defense (CND) methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP or SANS GIAC.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying threat intelligence.
  • A history of publishing research findings in relevant fields.
