In the role of Senior Cyber Systems Engineer, you will adopt an adversarial perspective, actively participating in threat hunting and conducting tactical analyses of ongoing attacks targeting vital systems.

Your leadership will guide a team of engineers, where your duties will encompass data evaluation, research on cyber threats, and the development of tools to facilitate these efforts. You will leverage your knowledge of adversary tactics and intelligence gathering to counteract evolving threats.

Collaboration with Capture Managers on proposals, involvement in marketing efforts, attendance at industry conferences, and engagement with peers will be essential to enhance our business capabilities.

This position offers the flexibility of telework, with the option to work at the Leidos Arlington site as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct R&D projects as Principal Investigator or Chief Engineer.
  • Contribute to submissions for cyber-related proposals.
  • Analyze network and host activities related to advanced intrusions.
  • Perform network traffic analysis utilizing various tools.
  • Create custom signatures to address emerging threats.
  • Employ forensic tools for in-depth attack analysis.
  • Investigate new cyber threats and provide valuable insights.
  • Contribute to threat intelligence reports and briefings.
  • Engage in threat hunting operations.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to achieve shared goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with over 15 years of experience in cybersecurity or network defense.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing diverse engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems and networking protocols.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of advanced cyber threats and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience in intrusion analysis and digital forensics.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, Python, and C++ programming languages.
  • Eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of threat models such as ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Experience with Mobile Operating Systems and Networks.
  • Previous positions as Threat Researcher or Intelligence Analyst.
  • Skills in malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Knowledge of cryptography and cryptanalysis.
  • Ability to create and implement Snort and YARA signatures.
  • Familiarity with CNE, CNA, CND tools and methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP or SANS GIAC.
  • Proficient in communicating threat intelligence effectively.
  • A history of publishing research findings.
