Role Summary: The Network Security Tools Engineer plays a pivotal role in the formulation and execution of cyber engineering strategies, tools, and methodologies aimed at bolstering a system's resilience against both current and future cyber threats.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the hands-on management of both on-premises and cloud-based security solutions, ensuring secure access to the network and monitoring traffic flows to avert unauthorized intrusions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver cybersecurity engineering support across systems, components, security tools, and processes for both developmental and operational cyber tools.
  • Collaborate independently or as part of a team to address cybersecurity engineering challenges.
  • Assess and enhance existing cyber protection tools to improve security posture, providing actionable recommendations for system remediation and protection.
  • Conduct cyber criticality, mission impact, and risk assessments of proposed tools.
  • Translate analytical insights into security use cases for implementation within existing surveillance capabilities.
  • Provide comprehensive technical reporting of analysis results through presentations and documents, tailored for diverse audiences including senior management and technical staff.
  • Oversee the operation and management of multiple cloud and on-premises network security devices, offering technical support and troubleshooting for performance issues.
  • Implement new application versions upon release.
  • Develop application documentation, diagrams, and other deliverables for tool maintenance, including technical designs using Visio.

Essential Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability and a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Minimum of 6 years of software development experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Agile software development methodologies.
  • In-depth technical and theoretical expertise in cyber defensive operations and technologies.
  • Experience with the installation and configuration of SecureSphere Imperva Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Database Activity Monitoring (DAM).
  • Advanced skills in securing network traffic via AWS API Gateway and AWS Application Load Balancers, along with cloud security technologies.
  • Familiarity with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), RSA Security Analytics, and various security tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud DevOps Administration or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with Network Security Identity Management tools, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with DHS operations.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Equivalent experience may substitute for formal education.
Desired Certifications:
  • Current certifications such as CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP, CASP, or Security+ are preferred.
  • AWS certifications including Cloud DevOps Developer Associate, SysOps Administrator Associate, Advanced Networking Specialty, or Security Specialty are advantageous.
