Job Description Summary:
As a Lead Condensed Matter Physicist, the selected candidate will be instrumental in advancing sophisticated quantum- and condensed matter-based platforms aimed at achieving high precision in sensing, detection, timing, and measurement systems.

The candidate will focus on quantum solid-state sensing and detection, tasked with conceiving, designing, modeling, testing, and characterizing innovative techniques that utilize room-temperature condensed matter structures to surpass traditional detectors.

The ideal candidate should possess profound knowledge and experience in optics, electromagnetics, materials, devices, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and/or acoustics. Experience in theoretical, simulation, and experimental work is highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in condensed matter physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in quantum solid-state systems and sensing (theory, modeling, simulation, experiment, and/or implementation and testing) is essential.
  • Strong foundation in condensed matter theory, with the ability to capture, comprehend, and model physical phenomena.
  • Excellent understanding of low-dimensional structures and collective and emergent phenomena.
  • Proficiency in computational environments such as MATLAB, Python, Mathematica, or similar is required.
  • The candidate must be highly self-driven and thrive in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Capability and willingness to support and lead business development efforts, including writing proposals, white papers, and technical documents.
  • Demonstrated success in securing external funding.
  • Aptitude for delivering technical presentations to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in leading projects is essential.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with simulation and computational software is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience conducting laboratory experiments and evaluating prototypes.
Additional Information:

Applicants selected for this role will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, necessitating proof of US citizenship.
