Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily custodial operations and participates in formal performance evaluations.
  • Maintains accurate work logs and provides training to custodial staff on cleaning equipment.
  • Assists in creating work schedules for the custodial team in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and identify safety concerns.
  • Coordinates the repair of hazardous conditions within City buildings with the supervisor.
  • Operates various cleaning machinery, including floor buffers and carpet extractors.
  • Facilitates the communication of policies and procedures to custodial staff.
  • Performs general cleaning duties to maintain the condition of City facilities, including floor care, vacuuming, and furniture polishing.
  • Disinfects and sanitizes frequently touched surfaces to promote hygiene.
  • Empties waste receptacles and removes debris from the premises.
  • Dusts and cleans ventilation grills throughout the facilities.
  • Washes glass surfaces, including windows and desks.
  • Conducts tile maintenance tasks such as stripping, sealing, and waxing.
  • Ensures the upkeep of custodial equipment and reports any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, locker rooms, and other critical areas, restocking supplies as necessary.
  • Assists in setting up City facilities for meetings, including beverage preparation and arranging furniture.
  • Ensures building security by performing nightly inspections to confirm all doors are secured.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responds to requests for moving furniture or changing light bulbs.
  • Clears snow and applies ice-melt to walkways.
  • Maintains documented inventory of supplies.
  • Assists the supervisor in updating Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Performs other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: At least 3 years in custodial maintenance, with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role; supervisory experience preferred.

Certifications: None required

Driver's License: Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean driving record.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of custodial maintenance and floor care techniques.
  • Familiarity with chemical usage and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Basic maintenance knowledge.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily conducted indoors within City facilities, with occasional outdoor tasks. Exposure to mechanical equipment, fumes, and various cleaning chemicals is expected. Employees may encounter varying environmental conditions.

Salary Range: $16.80 to $25.20
