Position Overview:

The Information Assurance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with the Assessment and Authorization processes and Access Only activities, adhering to established DoD guidelines and procedures for Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct continuous monitoring of all supported systems and networks, identifying and addressing cybersecurity incidents.
  • Develop and implement guidelines and strategies for security incident response, vulnerability scanning, and cybersecurity assessments.
  • Respond to cybersecurity notices and ensure compliance with directives from the Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP).
  • Provide technical support and documentation to ensure systems meet Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
  • Engage in operational cybersecurity activities, including vulnerability assessments and compliance with security standards.
  • Support governance, risk, and compliance initiatives by creating relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain security documentation and records for various systems and networks.
  • Manage eMASS records, tracking compliance and security controls.
  • Assist in RMF activities, including security control selection and continuous monitoring plan development.
  • Participate in configuration management processes, providing security assessments for proposed changes.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results and implement remediation strategies.
  • Support incident response procedures for cybersecurity threats.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation for accreditation of IT assets.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly status reports detailing technical activities and priorities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's or associate degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a DoD cybersecurity role.
  • DoD 8570 IAM II certification is required; IAM III certification is preferred.
  • TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with DoD vulnerability scanning tools and cybersecurity policies.
  • Strong understanding of security control assessment and RMF processes.
  • Proficient in various software applications, including MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Army and DoD regulations regarding information assurance.
