Job Summary:

The Information Assurance Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with Assessment and Authorization and Access Only activities. This role adheres to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) and NETCOM Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) for Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes. The officer collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of cybersecurity experts, system administrators, and technical support staff to conduct continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and compliance reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of all supported systems and networks, identifying and addressing cybersecurity incidents.
  • Develop comprehensive guidelines and strategies for security incident response, vulnerability assessments, and related cybersecurity activities.
  • Respond to cybersecurity notifications from the Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) and ensure compliance with security directives.
  • Provide technical documentation and support to ensure systems meet Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation requirements.
  • Engage in operational cybersecurity tasks, including vulnerability scanning and compliance with security guidelines.
  • Support governance, risk, and compliance initiatives by developing relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain security documentation for various systems and ensure compliance with network connection requirements.
  • Manage eMASS records, track compliance, and oversee security control assessments.
  • Participate in Risk Management Framework activities, including system categorization and security control selection.
  • Contribute to configuration management processes by assessing security impacts of proposed changes.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results and implement remediation strategies.
  • Support incident response procedures for cybersecurity breaches and other threats.
  • Maintain all necessary cybersecurity documentation for accreditation purposes.
  • Provide regular updates on technical activities and project statuses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a DoD cybersecurity role.
  • DoD 8570 IAM II certification required; IAM III certification preferred.
  • TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in DoD vulnerability scanning tools and methodologies.
  • Experienced in security assessment and accreditation processes.
  • Knowledgeable in NIST standards and guidelines.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating security controls and compliance.
  • Familiar with cybersecurity policies and procedures within the DoD framework.
