The Information Assurance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with Assessment and Authorization activities in accordance with established DoD guidelines. This position is integral to ensuring the security and compliance of information systems within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct continuous monitoring of all supported systems and networks, identifying and addressing cybersecurity incidents.
  • Develop and implement guidelines and strategies for security incident response, vulnerability assessments, and compliance with cybersecurity mandates.
  • Respond to cybersecurity notifications from the Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) and ensure compliance with security directives.
  • Provide technical support to ensure systems meet the requirements for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation.
  • Engage in operational cybersecurity activities, including vulnerability scanning and remediation of identified issues.
  • Maintain and manage documentation related to security controls, compliance, and risk management.
  • Oversee the management of eMASS records, tracking compliance and security control assessments.
  • Participate in configuration processes and provide security assessments for proposed changes.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results and coordinate with relevant teams to address findings.
  • Support incident response procedures for cybersecurity threats and maintain necessary documentation for accreditation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a DoD cybersecurity role.
  • DoD 8570 IAM II certification is required; IAM III certification is preferred.
  • TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in DoD vulnerability scanning tools and cybersecurity policies.
  • Experienced in security assessments, accreditation processes, and risk management frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage security documentation effectively.
  • Familiarity with current DoD and Army IA policies and procedures.
