Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee network traffic to identify security incidents and events utilizing advanced cybersecurity tools.
- Investigate and respond to security alerts to detect and mitigate potential cyber threats.
- Conduct real-time incident investigations and compile comprehensive incident response reports.
- Analyze malicious activities, evaluate risks, and implement defensive strategies against cyberattacks.
- Correlate events using data from various sources to enhance situational awareness.
- Perform threat intelligence analysis and remain informed about the evolving DoD cyber threat landscape.
- Advocate for best practices in information security throughout the organization.
- Execute periodic risk assessments utilizing Situational Awareness Reports (SAR).
- Review and triage Cyber Task Orders to pinpoint vulnerabilities and communicate findings to relevant commands.
- Convert orders into actionable tasks and monitor their progress for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with enterprise-wide cyber defense teams to validate network alerts and coordinate responses.
- Generate weekly summary reports detailing network events and activities pertinent to cybersecurity practices.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in roles such as Security Operations Center analyst, incident response analyst, or threat hunter.
- At least 1 year of experience in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with DoD policies and ensuring compliance within specified timeframes.
- Experience in managing data spills, creating incident action reports, and maintaining records for analysis.
- Proven leadership experience managing small teams.
- TS/SCI clearance is required.
- A Bachelor's degree is necessary.
Preferred Certifications:
IAM Level II certification, including CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP or Associate, GSLC, CCISO, or HCISP.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in cybersecurity tools and technologies such as firewalls, SIEM systems, HBSS, Splunk, ESM, NSM, NetFlow, and IDS. Experience with compliance tools like Continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS) and FISMA compliance tools is also essential.
