Director of Fleet Operations

Cranemasters is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Fleet Maintenance to lead our fleet operations team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of our company fleet of vehicles and equipment across all divisions.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the fleet operations team, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
- Fleet Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of company vehicles and equipment, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects and jobs simultaneously, ensuring that delivery commitments and deadlines are met.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that inventory levels are maintained at optimal levels, and that purchases are made in a cost-effective manner.
- Reporting and Documentation: Ensure that accurate reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner, including payroll data, equipment usage, and project reports.
- Training and Development: Provide coaching and counseling to direct reports, and identify training needs and goals for further development of employee skills.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management, division managers, and department managers.
- Experience: 10+ years of proven fleet management experience, with a high school diploma supplemented by the equivalent of 5 years of technical training or education in a related field.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry, with demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, welding, and wiring.
- Regulatory Compliance: Solid knowledge of D.O.T. regulations, including permitting for overweight and oversized loads, FRA regulations, and Cranemasters safety policies and procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills, including MS Office programs, and ability to learn additional software as required for operational needs.
- Leadership and Management: Ability to manage all aspects of budget, fiscal affairs of an assigned department, and resolve conflicts and manage crises.
- Communication and Teamwork: Strong and proactive communication skills, with the ability to participate in planning processes and work with others to meet goals and objectives.
The Director of Fleet Maintenance will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with occasional work in inclement weather conditions. The position requires the ability to stand and work outside in all weather conditions, and to answer phones to assist internal and external customers. The Director of Fleet Maintenance will also be required to be on call 24/7 to respond to, address, and resolve equipment issues.
