Job Description:

Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Summary:

The Field Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Engineer and Project Superintendent in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Foremen and Superintendents: Work closely with foremen and superintendents to track and analyze work plans, ensuring maximum efficiency in field operations.
  2. Develop and Maintain Project Data: Develop, maintain, and report daily quantities installed and performed, analyzing and comparing budgeted vs actual production rates and yield in materials.
  3. Perform Quantity Take-Offs: Perform quantity take-offs from plans and contrast weekly field quantities and plan quantities.
  4. Assist in Work Activity Planning: Assist in the development of Work Activity Plans, ensuring that field work is constructed within project standards and specifications.
  5. Provide Monthly Quantity Reports: Provide monthly quantity reports for verification of owner quantities and monthly billing.
  6. Support Project Engineers and Superintendents: Provide support for project engineers and superintendents as required, maintaining and organizing Plan Drawings, Revisions, and As-Builts.
  7. Maintain Project Logs: Assist in maintaining all Project Logs, assessing, comparing, and monitoring quantities ordered with materials budgeted.
  8. Initiate and Control Field Operations Reports: Initiate, drive, and control Field Operations Reports, developing Look Ahead Schedules with the project superintendent.
  9. Present Information Effectively: Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations, including managers and employees.
  10. Read and Interpret Documents: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions, Procedure Manuals, Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in Software: Moderate to high level of proficiency operating Primavera 3 and 6, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  3. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be a self-starter, and have a passion for construction and a job well done.
  5. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and utilize Construction Math concepts.
  6. Physical Demands: Valid driver's license for occasional, required travel, moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
  7. Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
