Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer with a minimum of 10 years in the field, particularly in delivering on A/E IDIQs and D/B MATOC/MACCs for federal Defense and Civilian Departments. Position Summary

The Structural Engineer III position requires a deep understanding of structural design principles and engineering methodologies. You will take the lead in planning and executing independent projects, utilizing your judgment to select and adapt engineering techniques and criteria. Your role will involve developing innovative solutions to complex challenges, as well as preparing and modifying technical documents, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and GMHILL standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct structural design and analysis calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Create layout designs and details under the guidance of the project lead engineer, with opportunities to take the lead on schematic layouts.
  • Produce drawings for your designs and collaborate with Designers/Drafters to integrate your sketches.
  • Investigate design alternatives and document findings for review by the project lead engineer.
  • Review and provide feedback on shop drawings.
  • Assume the role of lead engineer on assigned projects and serve as the primary client contact for smaller projects.
  • Oversee and mentor Designers/Drafters in their tasks.
  • Coordinate efforts with other disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical teams.
  • Manage routine contract administration alongside the project administrator.
  • Utilize engineering design software to create comprehensive design documents.
  • Participate in client and internal meetings to discuss project progress.
  • Conduct field activities to assess existing conditions and verify measurements.
  • Organize and draft technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate with GMHILL Construction personnel on design-build projects as necessary.
  • Engage in proposal writing, presentations, and business development initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Registered professional engineer certification in Florida is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with over ten years of advanced structural engineering experience.
  • A Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with federal projects and task orders is advantageous.
  • LEED AP BD+C certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Whole Building Design Guide and structurally related UFC.
