Position Overview:
The role of Senior Structural Engineer necessitates extensive expertise in structural design and engineering methodologies. You will be tasked with planning and executing independent projects that require discernment in the assessment, selection, application, and modification of engineering techniques, procedures, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting structural design and analysis calculations in accordance with relevant codes and standards, utilizing your engineering knowledge and experience.
  • Creating layouts and detailing project components based on guidance from the lead engineer, and potentially taking charge of schematic or conceptual layouts.
  • Producing drawings for your designs and generating sketches for incorporation into drawings by design teams.
  • Investigating design alternatives and documenting findings for the project lead engineer.
  • Reviewing shop drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Assuming the lead engineer's responsibilities on designated projects.
  • Possibly acting as Project Engineer and serving as the primary client contact for smaller, less complex projects.
  • Overseeing and guiding the activities of Designers and Drafters.
  • Collaborating with other disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical teams.
  • Managing routine contract administration in coordination with the project administrator.
  • Utilizing computer-aided design software to prepare engineering documentation.
  • Participating in client and company meetings to discuss project progress.
  • Conducting field activities, including observing and documenting existing conditions and verifying measurements.
  • Organizing, drafting, and coordinating technical documentation.
  • Demonstrating capability in managing and executing projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Coordinating with construction personnel on design-build projects as necessary.
  • Engaging in proposal development, presentations, and business growth initiatives.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A valid Florida professional engineer certification.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with over ten years of advanced structural engineering experience.
  • A Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering roles.
  • Experience with federal projects and task orders is advantageous.
  • LEED AP BD+C certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Whole Building Design Guide and structurally related Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
