About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Optometric Technician to join our team at Warby Parker. As a key member of our eye care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive exceptional care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Liaison: Establish strong relationships with patients, doctors, and store teams to provide a seamless appointment experience.
  • Clinical Data Collection: Perform preliminary clinical data collection, including autorefraction, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil testing, ocular motility testing, retinal imaging, and lensometry.
  • Supportive Role: Assist with in-person and video-assisted eye exam appointments, as well as support new contact lens wearers through insertion and removal training.
  • Booking Process Support: Assist patients and store teams throughout the booking process, including appointment confirmation, annual exam outreach, and contact lens follow-up.
  • Efficient Patient Flow: Manage the flow of patients through the eye exam process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Record Keeping: Support the doctor in maintaining accurate and meticulous records of collected data.
  • Reporting: Assist with the preparation of reports for other medical professionals, as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to governmental regulations and company procedures, including HIPAA and PIPEDA.
  • Exam Room Maintenance: Prepare and maintain an organized exam room, replenishing supplies, updating contact lens trials, and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Retail Support: Support the retail sales team, as directed by the Store Leader.
Requirements
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate a professional, articulate, and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with doctors, store teams, and patients to achieve a seamless appointment experience.
  • Multitasking: Excel at multitasking, organization, and time management to prioritize appointments and maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Problem-Solving: Think creatively and outside the box when needed.
  • Technical Skills: Be precise and comfortable with technology, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use new medical applications.
  • Experience: Possess 1+ years of experience in a medical environment supporting doctors, preferably in an optometry setting.
  • Knowledge: Have a working knowledge of G Suite and experience with optometry, electronic health records, or medical care.
  • Certifications: Hold a completion of an Optometric Technician training program or CPOT certification (Certified Paraoptometric Technician).
