Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

This position is essential for supporting patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include data management, unit administrative tasks, and equipment handling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with personal care and hygiene of patients, ensuring their physical comfort through activities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing, bed making, mobility assistance, and skin care.
  • Monitors, documents, and reports clinical activities within the scope of practice, observing and communicating any changes in patient conditions to the nursing staff. Collects and transports various specimens as needed.
  • Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer processes for patients by managing their belongings, providing necessary personal care items, and orienting patients and families.
  • Maintains an organized and efficient work environment, ensuring supplies and equipment are stocked and in good condition, while addressing any issues promptly.
  • Ensures a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
  • Performs clerical and support functions for the unit, including managing communications, assisting visitors, and addressing inquiries in line with established guidelines.
  • Provides general assistance to enhance the operational efficiency of the unit.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or equivalent military medical training.
  • Preferred six months of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in specialized units.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with a background as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Coordinator.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Must hold a valid certification as a Nursing Assistant from the Washington State Nursing Commission.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
