The Finance division at OpenAI plays a crucial role in aligning the organization with its mission. The Billing and Collection team is essential for ensuring the prompt and precise handling of billing and collections, delivering vital support to the overall revenue function and the organization as a whole. Our team collaborates effectively to enhance our operations and provide outstanding service to our diverse clientele.
Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic leader to develop and expand our Billing and Collection team, reporting directly to the Head of Revenue Accounting and Operations. In this capacity, you will be tasked with defining and executing the strategic vision for your team. You and your team will work closely with stakeholders across accounting, applied, go-to-market, legal, and other departments to facilitate significant transformation in systems and processes. OpenAI's clientele encompasses a wide range of backgrounds and levels of maturity, from individual users to emerging startups and established global corporations. Your contributions will ensure a top-tier experience for all customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives for the Billing and Collections team, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability through ongoing improvement and innovation.
- Lead and cultivate a high-performing team, focusing on organizational design, career development, and vendor management. Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and empathy.
- Create robust systems and processes that support our growth alongside our business and clientele.
- Utilize data and analytics to identify underlying issues, discover opportunities for process enhancements, and formulate comprehensive action plans to address them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout OpenAI to pinpoint challenges and opportunities, drive solutions, and enhance the overall experience for OpenAI customers.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Possesses over 8 years of experience in leading Billing, Collections, and Operations teams, preferably in technology startups with a blend of B2C and B2B products, along with a solid understanding of Quote to Cash processes.
- Has operational expertise in ASC 606.
- Demonstrates a successful history of building and nurturing high-performing teams, including managing offshore excellence centers.
- Has experience in spearheading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives, and fostering strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Exhibits high energy and ownership, displaying a proactive approach to acquiring new knowledge and addressing tasks to ensure team success.
- Is adept at using data-driven insights to design and implement process enhancements.
