Position Overview

The Water Business Unit at AECOM is seeking a motivated Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer. This role involves:

  • Managing and executing small to medium-scale geotechnical projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Providing mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Overseeing subsurface investigation programs.
  • Ensuring adherence to AECOM's safety protocols and fostering a secure work environment.
  • Conducting statistical analyses of geotechnical laboratory test results.
  • Performing and reviewing design calculations for various structural components.
  • Executing and reviewing analyses related to settlement, ground improvement, slope stability, and seepage.
  • Collaborating with geophysics teams for integrated subsurface exploration.
  • Preparing comprehensive engineering reports and documentation.
  • Participating in construction oversight and reviewing submissions from contractors.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation through data science and analytics.
  • Representing AECOM at local professional events.
  • Traveling for project-related tasks as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A BA/BS degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Expertise in pavement design, shallow and deep foundations, and slope stability.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, gINT, MathCAD, Geostudio, and other geotechnical software.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in both field and office settings.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • P.E. Certification.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizenship due to the nature of the work.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's license and the ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Preferred Skills

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Knowledge of local geology.
  • A strong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering principles.
  • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC projects.
  • Hands-on experience in large-scale subsurface investigations.
  • Experience in geotechnical laboratory testing and instrumentation monitoring.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
