Job Overview

As a Senior Mortgage Underwriter at Taylor Morrison, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and approving mortgage applications. Your expertise will ensure that all loans are assessed in accordance with industry standards and investor criteria. You will collaborate closely with various teams to provide exceptional service and support throughout the underwriting process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and authorize credit decisions for FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Analyze borrowers' financial profiles, including employment, income, credit history, assets, and collateral, while addressing any underwriting conditions.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of loans designated for prior approval, offering constructive feedback to Client Coordinators and Loan Consultants.
  • Stay informed about the latest agency and investor underwriting guidelines and credit overlays.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service, adhering to the company's service level expectations.
  • Be open to undertaking additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the mortgage or finance sector, including 5-7 years in underwriting.
  • Possession of FHA Direct Endorsement Certification and VA SAR, along with a comprehensive understanding of FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC underwriting guidelines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in automated underwriting software.
  • Strong ability to review and analyze individual and business income tax returns.

Work Environment:

  • This position is classified as non-exempt, requiring accurate timekeeping and eligibility for overtime compensation.

Essential Functions:

  • Report to the designated office daily and adhere to the established schedule.
  • Utilize computer systems to access, input, and retrieve information efficiently.
  • Engage in face-to-face interactions with clients, colleagues, and management.
  • Maintain the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and navigate the work environment as necessary.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for up to 50% of the workday.
