Position Overview: D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will utilize accounting principles to evaluate financial data and generate comprehensive financial reports. Responsibilities include assisting in budget management and cost projections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct House Profit Analyses and assess gross profit margins for each sales agreement.
  • Analyze SG&A expenses and ensure proper coding.
  • Verify employee expense reimbursements for accuracy and necessary documentation.
  • Examine job costs for budget discrepancies, cost code inaccuracies, and other posting errors on invoices.
  • Prepare journal entries as required.
  • Execute monthly closing procedures and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Compile monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Record bank deposits and generate related cash receipt journals.
  • Facilitate timely payment of property taxes and monthly amortization.
  • Oversee fixed asset acquisitions and ensure timely capitalization and depreciation.
  • Assist vendors with inquiries as necessary.
  • Support SG&A forecast preparation.
  • Conduct various ad hoc analyses, reports, and projects as requested by division management.
  • Prepare/update land acquisition proformas (LAPs), Forestar proformas, and the Financial Project System (FPS).

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting from an accredited four-year institution is required, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A CPA designation is preferred.
