Position Overview
Base Salary: $45,000 with a Target Commission potential of $126,000 based on $3 million in Mortgage Loan Production
Role Summary:
This role is vital to the success of Gulf Winds by actively seeking mortgage business and promoting our mortgage offerings. Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) are expected to cultivate and sustain strong professional relationships with local real estate agents, builders, attorneys, and other referral sources. This position is dedicated to delivering exceptional service by responding to inquiries from members and potential members, both from personal outreach and other Gulf Winds channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with potential borrowers to assess financial and credit information, identify financing goals, inform members about product policies, and collect necessary documentation.
- Actively pursue new mortgage applications by building relationships within the community, particularly with the real estate sector, and making outreach calls to prospective members.
- Ensure outstanding customer service by maintaining comprehensive knowledge of lending programs, policies, and regulatory requirements, while adhering to professional ethics and compliance standards.
- Contribute to mortgage loan operational standards by integrating loan information into strategic plans and reviews, and addressing production and quality benchmarks.
- Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional reading, networking, and participation in industry organizations.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and policies, including BSA, OFAC, and Physical Security.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Performance Metrics:
- Achieve or surpass established sales targets while actively promoting Gulf Winds products.
- Handle referrals promptly and professionally, ensuring accurate information collection and pricing.
- Maintain strong relationships with referral sources, achieving a high referral success rate.
- Demonstrate compliance with all applicable regulations through audits and observations.
- Receive positive feedback from business partners, prospects, and members regarding service quality and follow-up.
- Comply with all relevant rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-3 years in a similar role.
- Must meet NMLS registration requirements.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Interpersonal Skills: This role requires extensive personal interaction and the ability to motivate and influence others. Building strong relationships with external contacts is essential.
- Additional Skills: Familiarity with conventional and government mortgage lending guidelines, processing, underwriting, and closing procedures, as well as federal regulations governing real estate lending.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, and customer service orientation are essential. Self-motivation and organization are key, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office, and experience with technology for communication and loan management.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and present financial alternatives clearly.
- This position may require compliance with SAFE Act Registration Requirements.
- Must possess good communication skills and proficiency in using a 10-key calculator and keyboard.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.
- Flexibility to work standard hours, with potential evening or weekend commitments.
