Position Overview

About Us: CAMBA is a vibrant community comprising staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors, and partners dedicated to fostering an inclusive New York City. Each year, CAMBA assists over 65,000 individuals and families, including nearly 13,000 youth, through our extensive array of 180+ programs across more than 100 locations. Our services range from homelessness prevention to supportive housing, employment training, after-school programs, and affordable housing initiatives, all aimed at empowering New Yorkers to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Program Focus: The Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools initiative is designed to support students aged 15-21 who are over-aged for their grade, under-credited, and have spent a minimum of one year in another high school. Our goal is to assist these students in obtaining their high school diploma while providing essential vocational and life skills training. Each student will be paired with a dedicated Career Advocate who will facilitate their journey by addressing barriers to graduation, engaging them in college preparatory activities, and offering supportive services that promote self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration, including subsidized internships for 75 students.

Role Responsibilities:

The Advocate Counselor will act as the primary motivator and coordinator of program services for young adult students, helping them navigate challenges related to education and employment.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in social work or a related field; Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must maintain Department of Education fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
  • Ability to adapt to the culture and environment of a public school.
  • Bi-lingual proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Mandarin is preferred.

Compensation: $42,000 annually

Salary ranges reflect the low and high end for the position and program, with the final offer based on various factors unique to each candidate.

Employment Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
