Our initiatives range from homelessness prevention to supportive housing, employment training, after-school programs, and increasing affordable housing citywide, all aimed at helping New Yorkers achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Program Focus: The Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools initiative is designed to assist students aged 15-21 who are over-aged for their grade and under-credited, having spent at least one year in a previous high school. Our goal is to support these students in obtaining their high school diploma while providing essential vocational and life skills training. Each student will be paired with a dedicated Career Advocate who will assist in overcoming educational barriers, engage them in college preparatory activities, and offer supportive services that promote self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration, including subsidized internships for 75 students.

Role Responsibilities:

The Advocate Counselor will act as the primary motivator and coordinator of services for young adult students, assisting those at risk in overcoming obstacles to education and employment.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in social work or a related field, with relevant experience; a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must secure and maintain Department of Education fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
  • Ability to adapt to the culture and environment of a public school setting.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish or English/Mandarin is preferred.

Compensation: $42,000 annually

Salary ranges reflect the low and high end for the position and program, with the final offer based on various factors unique to each candidate.

Employment Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
