Position Overview:
The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for performing x-ray examinations as directed by healthcare providers. This role involves explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their safety, reviewing images for quality, and maintaining accurate records.Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcomes patients, verifies the type of imaging required, and provides a clear explanation of the x-ray process.
  • Assesses patients' medical histories before conducting imaging procedures and ensures consent forms are signed when necessary.
  • Executes x-ray procedures in accordance with established protocols regarding body positioning, radiation intensity, and exposure duration.
  • Processes and evaluates x-ray films to confirm that they meet the standards set by the radiologist.
  • Maintains imaging equipment and examination areas, organizes film storage, and manages inventory of supplies.
  • Compiles patient information files that include the patient's name, date of the x-ray, referring physician, and the number of images taken.
  • Prepares and submits reports detailing the types and quantities of x-rays performed.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.
Availability:
May require working on weekends and holidays in addition to regular weekdays.

Qualifications:
Experience
  • N/A
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of accredited training in radiologic technology.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Maryland Radiologic Technologist License
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Skills:
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Competence in relevant computer software applications is essential.
Preferred Experience:
  • At least one year of experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred, including practical training and internships.
