Position Overview

WSP is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Traction Power Construction Lead. This position is integral to our national project management and construction management team, which is dedicated to delivering large-scale projects that align with our clients' goals and address their challenges. The selected candidate will engage with a diverse group of professionals, including project managers, field engineers, construction personnel, and executive leadership, in a fast-paced environment.

Your Responsibilities
  • Oversee field engineering inspection teams to ensure adherence to contract specifications for the installation, testing, and commissioning of intricate rail system electrical power components.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage correspondence, and compile necessary reports for project documentation.
  • Supervise the performance, scheduling, and quality control of the design-builder's on-site activities.
  • Review and authorize daily inspection reports from field engineers in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in drafting Change Orders for project modifications, unforeseen conditions, and additional tasks.
  • Coordinate responses to submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), construction work plans, and shop drawings from the design-builder.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, permits, and coordination with ongoing rail operations and adjacent projects.
  • Collaborate with rail operators and associated teams to facilitate upcoming work and mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Work in partnership with subcontractors, engineering experts, and infrastructure authorities to achieve project objectives.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.
Qualifications

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical or track power within complex rail project delivery.
  • Proficient in inspecting high-tension systems and overseeing their commissioning and energization.
  • Experience collaborating with local utility providers.
  • Flexibility to work hours that align with project demands, which may extend beyond standard workweeks.
  • Ability to lead and supervise electrical inspection teams.
  • Competence in reviewing and approving shop drawings, construction work plans, contractor schedules, and inspection requirements.
  • Experience in implementing and commissioning SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with MTA C&D, Amtrak, and Metro North railroads is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively with railroad's force account personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of MTA C&D's ASITE document control system.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
  • Must pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • This position is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy.

Compensation
Expected Salary Range: $97,100 - $198,200. WSP USA provides this range based on the successful applicant's qualifications and internal equity considerations. The final compensation may vary based on individual circumstances.
