Key Responsibilities

As a Space Operations Specialist at Blue Origin, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our space launch vehicles and components. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating manufacturing schedules and coordinating the availability and controlled flow of materials and services to meet customer requirements
  • Performing shop order release/closure in the MRP System and reconciling parts
  • Providing detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicating constraints to schedule
  • Preparing work orders for the production of parts based on MRP, master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements
  • Coordinating interdepartmental activity with warehouse, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, logistics, and program
  • Scheduling and expediting the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders
  • Working cross-functionally to expedite any material shortages with procurement, receiving, quality, and other production areas
  • Implementing material stocking strategies on production lines, monitoring, controlling, and maintaining proper floor stock
  • Controlling the proper access and consumption of material in manufacturing
  • Monitoring the flow/velocity of jobs through the production line and partnering with Production to ensure work completes on time to schedule
  • Monitoring the velocity of the disposition of MRB and stranded material
  • Entering material transactions in the ERP system
  • Preparing reports and noting shortages/damage
  • Processing scrap and obsolete inventory from WIP locations as required
  • Preparing for, conducting, and assisting in reconciliation of cycle counts
  • Working with Engineering and Warehousing teams to resolve part discrepancies
  • May be required to interface with departments throughout the company
  • Must possess good organizational skills, the ability to work well with others, good decision-making skills, and the ability to think outside the box
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, scheduling, demand planning, or planning
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Experience with activities related to planning and/or scheduling
  • Experience working with a cross-functional team
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office, ERP experience with MRP execution desired
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar
  • Ability to read, run, and write SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel on occasion
  • Based upon job duties, may need to work in various areas that may cause exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities, and management and customer decisions
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math and analytical skills to solve problems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
