GENERAL OVERVIEW:


Accountable for overseeing and managing all designated areas as assigned by the Store Manager, adhering to company policies concerning Customers, Associates, and product presentation.

Tasked with acquiring knowledge of all operational aspects of the Store.

In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager assumes responsibility for directing the overall Store operations to ensure adherence to Company standards and best practices.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Excellence:
Guides all Company Best Practices and enhances productivity by streamlining processes while performing tasks.
Assists in reviewing Store reports to assess controllable expenses and overall Store effectiveness.
Communicates any discrepancies to Company standards to the Store Manager.
Ensures appropriate scheduling of Associates to achieve business goals.
Guarantees compliance with all applicable State, Local, and Federal regulations.
Oversees scheduling and execution of all Associate cleaning duties throughout the Store, including restrooms.
Accepts special projects as directed by Leadership.
Responsible for payroll management, including daily time edits, Associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll submissions, and Payroll reporting as required.

Team Development:
Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, and development of non-exempt Associates.
Ensures adherence to Ross personnel policies and procedures.
Addresses Associate Relations matters by reporting any incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as necessary.

Financial Oversight:
Contributes to the management and ongoing monitoring of actual expenditures to remain within budget.
Controls payroll hours to plan, as this is the primary controllable expense, while adjusting to current business trends.

Safety and Security:
Recognizes that safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors in all activities.
Ensures all Associates are knowledgeable and can execute emergency procedures.
Maintains compliance with Company safety policies and safeguards the well-being of Associates and Customers.
Facilitates monthly safety meetings.

Customer Engagement:
Treats all Customers, Associates, and fellow leaders with respect.
Exhibits courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism consistently. Acknowledges Associates through Company recognition initiatives.
Implements Customer service programs and Merchandise Presentation initiatives through Associate training and program oversight.

Supervises and mentors Retail Associates in delivering efficient and friendly service at registers, Customer Service desks, fitting rooms, sales floors, etc.


Brand Representation:
Embodies and promotes the Company brand at all times.
Maintains and exemplifies a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code. Reinforces the Company Dress Code consistently.
Manages the Store to ensure a clean, organized, and customer-friendly shopping environment.
Upholds high standards of cleanliness with the assistance of contracted maintenance personnel and Ross Associates.
Ensures scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning responsibilities throughout the Store, including restrooms.
Merchandise Handling and In-Store Marketing

Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are executed to Company standards through teaching, task assignment, and follow-up per Company best practices.

Ensures merchandise is displayed and organized according to Company merchandising guidelines.
Urgently manages merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected Company timeframe.

Loss Prevention:
Assists in training Associates on Loss Prevention awareness and Store shortage objectives.
As a representative of Ross Leadership, demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with Associates and Customers. Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card details, and merchandise.

Understands and adheres to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and is accountable for Store Loss Prevention, which includes maintaining a strong Customer service presence on the sales floor, engaging with Customers and Associates, and promoting heightened Loss Prevention awareness.

Assists in leading the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines.
Monitors mark-out-of-stock policy to ensure proper administration.
Ensures Public View Monitor (PVM) system is properly maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Two or more years of experience as a Store or Assistant Store Manager in a retail setting.
Must demonstrate the ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively with Store Associates at all levels.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, provide direction, and follow through to completion.
Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.
Maintain a high standard of Customer service.
Fluency in English.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to utilize all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of all non-exempt Associates.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The base pay range for this role is $19.50 – $27.45.

This range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location.

The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
