The Construction Project Supervisor will also play a pivotal role in mentoring and creating a culture of continuous learning and development, while embodying our core values: Through Teamwork We Do The Right Thing To Make It Happen.

The Construction Project Supervisor is accountable for the establishment and management of daily project activities, ensuring timely and profitable project completion that meets high-quality standards. This role carries the primary responsibility for maintaining safety on-site, with success measured by zero safety incidents, client referrals leading to repeat business, projects delivered on schedule, and achieving project gross margins that meet or exceed established targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Duties:

  • Schedule Oversight: Create and manage project timelines utilizing construction drawings and an understanding of construction methodologies. Supervise team performance to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Contract and Risk Oversight: Draft and prepare standard contracts with input from legal advisors. Ethically resolve contract disputes to meet project objectives.
  • External Relations: Establish and nurture long-term relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors. Proactively address project issues to prioritize client satisfaction.
  • Project Administration: Manage all facets of project administration, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Build relationships with subcontractor senior management to ensure collaboration and timely execution of tasks. Address subcontractor-related issues promptly.
  • Safety Leadership: Champion proactive safety initiatives, communicate the significance of safety, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence. Uphold and promote safety standards.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project financials, set ambitious financial targets, and negotiate significant financial matters. Develop strategic business plans to enhance profit margins.
  • Client Development: Engage in client development activities, lead presentations, and secure new business opportunities. Build relationships with key clients and participate in relevant industry associations.
  • Pre-Construction, Estimating, and Procurement: Understand project specifics and apply them to the budgeting process. Coordinate with clients, pre-construction teams, and operations to ensure budget accuracy and project success.

Leadership and Management:

  • Strategic Alignment: Align with Forrester's Strategic Plan, inspire team members, and effectively address complex challenges.
  • Execution: Organize workflows, utilize resources efficiently, and monitor team performance to achieve desired results.
  • Talent Development: Recruit, nurture, and motivate team members. Implement career development strategies and address performance issues as necessary.
  • Influence and Impact: Collaborate across functions to achieve company objectives, manage stress effectively, and support others in their success.
  • Communication: Clearly present information, keep stakeholders informed, and translate issues into actionable solutions.

Forrester Values:

  • Team Collaboration: Resolve conflicts, support decisions, and encourage collaboration throughout the organization.
  • Integrity: Act with honesty, take responsibility, and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Proactive Approach: Approach work with enthusiasm and determination, holding oneself and others accountable, and addressing issues promptly.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to build rapport with clients and manage construction subcontractors effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction processes and trades.
  • Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports, project documents, and architectural plans.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence and respond to inquiries from clients and regulatory bodies.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to conduct structural and budget analyses.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to work with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations) and manage both concrete and abstract variables.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and occasionally climb or balance. Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 lbs and possess good vision capabilities.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in various conditions, including construction sites with exposure to noise, dust, and extreme temperatures.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of field operations experience in general contracting, with experience managing projects exceeding $5M.
  • CPR/First Aid and OSHA certifications required within the first 90 days. Additional certifications (e.g., Maryland Environmental Green Card, EM-385) are advantageous.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with at least 7 years of similar experience in construction management, estimating, or other construction trades.
