Control Panel Assembly Specialist

Position Overview:
The Control Panel Assembly Specialist plays a vital role in the fabrication, wiring, evaluation, and troubleshooting of electrical control panels designed for the automation and monitoring of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. A strong focus on precision, technical skills, and a dedication to quality are essential for ensuring the dependability and performance of Data Flow control panels.
Key Responsibilities:
Panel Fabrication:
- Interpret and analyze engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to construct electrical control panels in accordance with specified guidelines.
- Install and secure components such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), relays, contactors, switches, and terminal blocks within panel enclosures.
- Ensure the correct arrangement, spacing, and organization of components in the control panel, facilitating efficient wiring and troubleshooting processes.
Wiring and Connection:
- Connect electrical components and devices based on wiring diagrams and schematics, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Execute terminations, crimping, and labeling of wires and cables for straightforward identification and maintenance.
- Confirm wiring continuity, polarity, and insulation resistance to guarantee electrical integrity and compliance with established specifications.
Panel Evaluation and Troubleshooting:
- Perform functional assessments of control panels to validate proper operation and compliance with design specifications.
- Diagnose electrical issues, wiring inconsistencies, and component malfunctions using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and quality assurance teams to address technical challenges and implement corrective measures.
Quality Control:
- Examine completed control panels for quality, completeness, and adherence to engineering standards and client specifications.
- Document any deviations, discrepancies, or non-conformities identified during the assembly and testing phases.
- Apply corrective actions and rework as necessary to resolve quality concerns and ensure client satisfaction.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols, including the proper handling of electrical components, utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to electrical codes and regulations.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, observing housekeeping and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in panel fabrication, wiring, and evaluation within an industrial automation or electrical control panel manufacturing setting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings proficiently.
- Familiarity with electrical components and devices typically utilized in control panels, including PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors, switches, and terminal blocks.
- Competence in safely and effectively using hand and power tools for assembly, wiring, and connection tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and quality, with the capacity to follow written instructions and work independently or collaboratively.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a systematic approach to diagnosing electrical issues and implementing solutions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating with colleagues and conveying technical information clearly.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and techniques.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required to meet production goals and client needs.
Educational Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in electrical wiring, electronics, or a related discipline is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical activities include standing, sitting, walking, lifting (up to 60 lbs), communicating, and responding to safety alerts.
- Work is conducted indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
- The typical noise level in the work environment is low to moderate, although hearing protection and other personal protective equipment will be necessary when operating power tools.
