Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and applicable federal, state, and local standards. This role ensures that quality dining services are consistently provided, as directed by the Dining Services Director.
The Cook assists in maintaining proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning protocols. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, this position may also support Dietary Aides and oversee other staff with appropriate approval.
Safety ResponsibilitiesUtilize protective gear for all relevant tasks and ensure the safe mixing and use of cleaning solutions while adhering to safety protocols. Report any equipment or cleaning product needs to the supervisor promptly. Ensure compliance with established safety and quality standards.
Follow infection control and universal precautions to maintain a sanitary environment at all times, including proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing techniques.
PunctualityConsistent attendance and timely arrival are essential. Complete assigned tasks according to schedule and respond promptly to paging systems.
Customer and Resident Experience
Represent HCSG positively by following instructions and maintaining courteous interactions with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff. Engage in pleasant and respectful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.
Qualifications
Demonstrate a positive attitude with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions while performing routine tasks consistently. After completing all necessary training, utilize leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities independently without compromising safety.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in food preparation is advantageous, and completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory based on state or county regulations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push or pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to perform routine tasks continuously and work in proximity to food and cleaning products. Residency in the service area is required.
