Job Summary

The Department of Corrections Executive Leadership is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced to join our team. This position is responsible for the inspection and analysis of equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and analyze equipment to identify potential issues and malfunctions
  • Diagnose and repair equipment, including systems such as electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, locks and security doors, fire control, and fuel storage and delivery
  • Perform maintenance on vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, motorized equipment, and electrical and mechanical equipment such as welding torches, lifts, and generators
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers
  • Use blueprints and schematics to make repairs to the facility's structure and fixtures
  • Supervise and train inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments and maintain security in the work environment
  • Keep maintenance records and research needed parts and equipment for repairs or improvements and submit selections for purchase

Requirements

  • Experience or training in construction or repair of structures (such as using wood, steel, or other metals to make structural repairs to buildings or experience making repairs to building fixtures and furniture, etc.)
  • Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs (in areas such as: plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, motorized equipment, welding, lifts, and generators, etc.)
  • Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment (such as plow trucks, snow blowers, lawn mowers, slid steers, lifts, utility vehicles etc.)
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • For some positions, applicants must possess a valid driver's license and may be required to meet certain driving requirements. Employees in those positions will be required to maintain a valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a fleet vehicle.
    • This position requires the physical ability to perform manual labor, to climb, bend, crawl and lift and will sometimes work in cold, hot, or dusty environments.
