Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide critical support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders or co-occurring disorders. Your expertise will help empower individuals to achieve their recovery goals and live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide outreach, mentoring, and peer support to individuals in need of guidance and resource information throughout their recovery journey.
• Advocate for individual and family needs with substance use disorder professionals, mental health professionals, medical professionals, and other stakeholders within the jail.
• Encourage individuals to assert their rights and needs, promoting empowerment and self-determination.
• Provide instruction, role modeling, and coaching in skill-building activities such as budgeting, shopping, housekeeping, job interviewing, civic involvement, and self-assertiveness training.
• Problem-solve with individuals and interact with other team members to eliminate obstacles to recovery, linking individuals to child-care, transportation, housing, health concerns, and other essential resources.
• Develop and implement recovery-oriented programs with approval from the supervisor, promoting a supportive and empowering environment for individuals in recovery.
• Facilitate access to various community resources, including housing, employment, education, transportation, recreation, health, religious/spiritual, and other resources needed to meet goals, objectives, and needs.
• Prepare written documentation of services provided to individuals and the effectiveness of delivered supports, adhering to program rules, regulations, and safety programs.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Full certification as a drug and alcohol recovery support specialist by a statewide certification body within 12 months of hire.
• Certified Recovery Specialist must maintain their PCB certification bi-annually.
Essential Functions:
• Maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the agency.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Input data utilizing Electronic Medical Records.
• Provide information to all individuals making contact with ADAS, Inc.
• Organize, prepare, and present data.
• Utilize proper spelling and punctuation.
• Move up to 30 pounds.
• Travel to various locations.
• Apply policies and guidelines and explain to individuals during intake.
• Understand written and oral instructions.
