Job Description

COMHAR, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Recovery Coach to join our team at the Community Living Room (CLR) and Community Integrated Recovery Center (CIRC). As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting and educating individuals about the availability of services in the community.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health and co-occurring disorders, as well as experience working with individuals who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS. You will be responsible for facilitating the individual recovery process by being supportive and providing stage-appropriate recovery education and supports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage individuals who may be at-risk and provide stage-appropriate recovery education and supports
  • Assist in the orientation process and facilitate groups for persons who are new to receiving mental health and/or co-occurring disorders services
  • Educate and engage individuals in the Wellness Recovery Action Plan process
  • Develop and implement educational and support groups, activities deemed beneficial by the program community
  • Link individuals to community resources and peer supports outside of the facility to promote community integration
  • Support individuals in seeking to connect/reconnect with family, friends, and significant others
  • Provide education and advocacy within the community to promote awareness of mental health, HIV/AIDS, and co-occurring disorders

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 12 months of successful full or part-time paid or voluntary work experience in mental health direct service
  • Available to work Monday - Friday and some evenings and weekends
  • Completed and passed a Peer Specialist certification program approved by the Department
