Our Technology teams are dedicated to challenging conventional methods and redefining capabilities across various sectors. Through cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and solution engineering, our professionals play crucial roles in linking consumers with the next generation of products and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Your team will focus on:

  • Developing a comprehensive cloud-native, web-scale platform and associated tools for adoption by engineering teams across DISH's various business units.
  • Implementing a customer-focused, personalized strategy for platform evolution.
  • Advancing our robust hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives.
  • Designing and constructing a service catalog, software templates, and a developer portal to facilitate self-service.
  • Providing essential core platform services for our organization, including AWS, Kubernetes, service discovery, DNS, IPAM, and load balancing.
  • Maintaining and optimizing a cloud platform that supports extensive, intricate systems for performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Building and managing advanced AWS services such as SSO, Organization, Service Catalog, Step Functions, Account Factory, and Control Tower - Landing Zone.
  • Innovating automation capabilities within the cloud platform and developing new features based on application patterns for cloud hosting.
  • Supporting application development, operations, testing, and continuous software delivery in an agile environment, while assisting infrastructure teams in embracing cloud-native principles.

Essential Duties:

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing AWS cloud-based production systems to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Overseeing build, release, and configuration management of production systems.
  • Conducting pre-production acceptance testing to guarantee product/service quality.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues across platform and application domains.
  • Recommending architectural enhancements and process improvements.
  • Championing cloud-native, hybrid cloud, and continuous deployment methodologies.
  • Assessing new technology options and vendor products.
  • Ensuring critical system security through top-tier cloud security solutions.
Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology; a Master's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in enterprise development.
  • 4+ years of experience utilizing a wide array of AWS technologies (e.g., EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, Lambda, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, KMS, Kinesis Streams) to develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions, with a focus on the Well-Architected Framework.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Hands-on experience in design and coding with EKS, Rancher, Docker, Helm, Istio, ELK, Prometheus, Terraform, and Python.
  • Strong proficiency in Kubernetes building, troubleshooting, and management.
  • Preferred experience with Argo, GitLab, Vault, Consul, Ansible, API Gateway, Kafka, and DevOps concepts.
  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 Amazon AWS environment, including automation with configuration management tools and CI/CD process setup (Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, GitLab, etc.).
  • Industry certifications in Kubernetes (CKA and/or CKAD), DevOps, and Cloud Platforms are highly desirable.
  • Experience in building and managing hybrid cloud platforms that support large, highly available enterprise-grade applications.
  • Proficient scripting skills, including AWS Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and strong automation skills (e.g., Python).
  • Linux/Ubuntu system administration experience.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, New Relic, Pager Duty).
  • Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).

The salary range for this position is $116,875.00 to $137,500.00 per year. Individual total compensation may vary based on qualifications, skill level, and competencies, as well as the role's location. Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment screening, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
