Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing a comprehensive cloud-native, web-scale platform and associated tools that will be utilized by engineering teams across multiple business units within DISH.
  • Implementing a customer-focused, highly personalized strategy for the advancement of our platform.
  • Continuing efforts to establish a robust hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Designing and constructing a service catalog, software templates, and a developer portal to facilitate self-service.
  • Enabling core platform services for organizational consumption, including AWS, Kubernetes, service discovery, DNS, IPAM, load balancing, etc.
  • Maintaining and optimizing a cloud platform that hosts extensive, intricate systems, ensuring performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Building and managing advanced AWS services such as SSO, Organization, Service Catalog, Step Functions, Account Factory, and Control Tower - Landing Zone.
  • Innovating automation capabilities within the cloud platform and developing new feature sets based on application patterns for cloud hosting.
  • Assisting application development, operations, testing, and software delivery in an agile environment, continuously supporting infrastructure teams in understanding what it means to be 'cloud native.'
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing AWS cloud-based production systems to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Overseeing build, release, and configuration management of production systems.
  • Conducting pre-production acceptance testing to ensure product/service quality.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues across platform and application domains.
  • Recommending architectural enhancements and process improvements.
  • Being a strong advocate for cloud-native, hybrid cloud, and continuous deployment methodologies.
  • Evaluating new technology options and vendor products.
  • Ensuring critical system security through the implementation of top-tier cloud security solutions.
Qualifications and Experience

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology; a Master's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Over 10 years of professional enterprise development experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience with a wide range of AWS technologies (e.g., EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, Lambda, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, KMS, Kinesis Streams) to develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions, emphasizing the Well-Architected Framework.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Hands-on design and coding experience with EKS, Rancher, Docker, Helm, Istio, ELK, Prometheus, Terraform, and Python.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes, including building, troubleshooting, and management.
  • Preferred skills in Argo, GitLab, Vault, Consul, Ansible, API Gateway, Kafka, and DevOps concepts.
  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime Amazon AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools and CI/CD process setup and support (Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, GitLab, etc.).
  • Industry certifications in Kubernetes (CKA and/or CKAD), DevOps, and Cloud Platforms are highly desirable.
  • Experience in building and managing hybrid cloud platforms that support large, highly available enterprise-grade applications.
  • Proficient in scripting, including AWS Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and strong automation skills.
  • Operating Systems: Linux/Ubuntu system administration.
  • Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, New Relic, Pager Duty).
  • Networking: Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation ranges from $116,875.00 to $137,500.00 per year.
